Just the Three of Us For Edgar and Ellen, it had been a while. Ellen looked at the numbers on the telephone dial. She was feeling a little melancholy. Edgar was « missing in action ». And, his behavior was « shady ». Although Ellen survived Christmas without Edgar, she continued to make plans to spend New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day with Edgar. However, she shook off suspicions in her mind that Edgar was purposely avoiding her. Was she still Edgar’s lady? Ellen had it all planned out. Both she and Edgar would take pictures as a couple. Then, they would lay in bed together and enjoy the view from the window of fireworks going off. That would be at midnight. That sounded alright. And, that is what her plan was about. So, she moved forward with her plans. She booked an appointment with her hairdresser. Wasn’t the hair dresser from Atlanta? Nevermind. Ellen did not take pictures with Santa. Or, was it Cannes? Anyway, Ellen got a new haircut. But…… She returned to Edgar’s apartment. Finally, she reached the last stair. Although no one answered his door, she felt like someone was there. So, she left Edgar a note. Four weeks passed without Edgar contacting her. New Year’s Eve passed by as rapid as a blur. He was nowhere to be found. As a result, she had to turn back around. Ellen’s insides began to flutter. At any time, she could have nausea and would have to eat burned toast with butter. Then, she looked down at her belly. She was not showing. And, her stomach felt like jelly. However, Ellen refused to think negatively. She wanted to bring in the new year with Edgar and her unborn child without worries, nor a single fuss. However, Edgar’s disappearance and avoidance about such matters was a sign of a break-up after Christmas. Without Edgar, there would be no « just the three of us ».
